Spring Recital

Our spring recital is Friday May 11th, at Jordan Kitts Music. Jordan Kitts is located at 10040 Midlothian Turnpike. Performers should arrive, with music in hand, no later than 6:15 pm. The recital will begin at 6:30 and the festivities will end by 8:00. You are encouraged to invite any family members and friends you wish. There will be a small reception to follow the performance. Please let me know if you are able to bring an item (or items) of food or drink. We will also need paper goods and a cooler of ice!

As the recital approaches, students will begin to discover emotions about performing….especially in front of people they do not know! Each student will require unique preparation for this event. Recitals are not mandatory, and for those who choose to perform, memorization of repertoire is encouraged, but again, not mandatory. Music plays a different role in the day-to-day life of every family and in the life of my students. I do not advocate forcing any aspect of music education or performance, and I would encourage you, as parents, to surround thoughts and discussions of the upcoming recital with a positive attitude. Embrace your child and help him/her understand that performing is  a part of goal setting and accomplishment and necessary for personal growth.

Summer Lessons

The 2007 Spring Semester ends on Friday May 27th. The first day of the 2007 Summer Semester is Thursday June 1st. Please take note that there will be no lessons on Monday May 30th or Tuesday May 31st. I have attached my Summer Policy information. The policy includes lesson dates and tuition information.  Please fill out the Intention coupon by circling your desired tuition rate, and also please include your desired day of the week and time for your lesson, and return to me by May 10th.

Survey

I would appreciate your feedback using the brief survey I provided you. There is a section titled “Other” with questions that require more detailed answers. I hope to learn what you appreciate and would like to see more of, or aspects that you might like to see change. This survey will me help facilitate any changes necessary. This space could also be used to give me an update on anything special you would like me to know about your family or children. Every family and student is unique from the next and I strive to fulfill the needs of each. Please give honest and constructive feedback.  Keep in mind, this is my only form of “Performance Evaluation” and I am actively seeking your comments. I strive to be the best teacher and to serve the needs of all students and parents.

I look forward to working together into the future months,

                                    Alys Hansley
